About Design SySTEM

Design SySTEM is a digital STEM curriculum crafted for elementary students, introducing them to the exciting world of engineering through the lens of innovation.

The curriculum frames engineering as the art of problem-solving and innovation, helping children see technology more broadly as any tool that solves a problem. By encouraging students to view technology as a form of innovation, this framework leverages kids’ natural curiosity and creativity as a vital part of learning.

Design SySTEM uses the 5-step Engineering Design Process (Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Improve) to guide innovation.

Through the exploration of 12 unique fields of engineering, students are introduced to potential future careers. The curriculum includes math extensions, project-based learning, and low-cost prototyping using recyclables and basic school supplies.

Design SySTEM has been successfully adopted by public and private schools, after-school programs, summer camps, and schools around the world over the last 10 years.
